2019 Schedule Prediction

The pre-season is in the books and the Saints are currently in the process of trimming the roster down the final 53. Its time for me to take a stab at the 2019 schedule and try to predict the regular season record, last season I predicted a 13-3 record so lets see how I do this year!

Week 1 - vs Houston Texans

The Saints open against a tough AFC opponent in the Texans. They have given us some trouble in the past but this time the Saints come out of the blocks flying and dominate in week one. Saints win 35-17

Week 2 - @ LA Rams

I made a prediction that last year there was NO WAY the Saints were going to lose @ the Vikings after the 'miracle'. I am making the same prediction this year, there is NO WAY the Saints are losing this game. I can see a backwards step for the Rams this year so the Saints take the victory here. Saints win 28-23

Week 3 - @ Seattle Seahawks

This is a tough spot for the Saints having two west coast trips in consecutive weeks. This is going to be a tough match up and the Saints do not have a good record at Century Link Field. The Seahawks are going to run the ball alot this season which plays into the Saints hands but two west coast trips in two weeks takes its toll here and Saints lose a close one. Saints lose 25-23

Week 4 - vs Dallas Cowboys

Another revenge game early for the Saints in 2019, the Cowboys have probably the best LB core in the NFL and the defence can be ferocious as we saw last season. I have concerns about the offence as I don't believe Dak Prescott is the long term answer and currently Zeke Elliott is sitting out so I don't see how the Cowboys can keep up with the Saints. Saints win 38-14

Week 5 - vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The first divisional game of the season sees the Bucs come to the dome. The Bucs will be improved in 2019 under Bruce Arians but that wont be enough to stop the Saints moving to 4-1 on the season. Saints win 35-21

Week 6 - @ Jacksonville Jaguars

This game is the start of a two week stretch where the Saints come up against two potentially elite defences on the road. Despite that I think the Saints can go into Jacksonville and score enough points to keep the Jags at bay. Saints win another close one on the road. Saints win 27-23

Week 7 - @ Chicago Bears

Bold prediction time......This will be a statement game for the Saints, The Bears have potentially the best defence in the NFL led by Khalil Mack, however, that will make little difference in this one as the Saints go into Chicago and lay down a marker. Saints win 35-24

Week 8 - vs Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals could be in play for another high pick this year as Kliff Kingsbury's offence may struggle to be successful in the NFL and there are concerns about Kyler Murray after the pre season. Saints win fairly easily and head into the bye @ 7-1. Saints win 45-14

Week 9 - BYE

No game in week 9 so plenty of time to prepare for..............

Week 10 - vs Atlanta Falcons

Falcons hate week, the dirty birds, you all know the drill. Falcons will be better this year as long as the defence stays healthy but that wont be enough to stop the Saints marching on with another victory. Saints win 31-21

Week 11 - @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Controversial here but as we all know the Saints have a clunky performance on the road and I think this week will be that game, it will be close but the Saints drop an egg here and lose to the Bucs. Saints lose 24-17

Week 12 - vs Carolina Panthers

I believe the Panthers will be the Saints closest rivals in the division this year, of course that all does depend on the health of Cam Newton, the Panthers always play the Saints tough but in the Dome the Saints take it. Saints win 31-21

Week 13 - @ Atlanta Falcons (Thanksgiving)

The Saints have had the wood over the Falcons in recent times and I see that continuing in this game. The Who Dat Nation will take over megatron's butthole and the Saints win again to pull further away in the NFC south race. Saints win 24-13

Week 14 - vs San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers will be an interesting study this year with all of their hopes riding on the fitness and performance of Jimmy Garoppollo. I think they will be improved this year but it wont be enough to stop the Saints in the dome. Saints win 35-16

Week 15 - vs Indianapolis Colts

Before the shock retirement of Andrew Luck this would have been a tough game to call as I thought the Colts were going to be good this year. The Colts defence will still be good but if Brissett is the QB then I don't see how they can keep up with the Saints in the dome. Saints win 34-14

Week 16 - @ Tennessee Titans

A win here could be crucial for the chances of home field advantage and hopefully gaining a chance to rest starters in week 17 ahead of the playoffs. This could be one of the toughest games on the schedule in 2019 but the Saints are going to go into Nashville and take a close gameSaints win 24-21

Week 17 - @ Carolina Panthers

In a similar scenario to last season the Saints can go into a week 17 game against the Panthers being able to rest starters. Because of that the Saints will lose this game but in the grand scheme of things it wont matter as the number one seed will be owned by the Saints again. Saints lose 35-24.

There we have it, my prediction is for another 13-3 season and the number one seed in the NFC. Lets see if I can predict this correctly again!
